Fans vs. Blowers – The Best Option?

A fan and blower are both machines used to enhance circulation of air within a room. Even though many people refer to both these machines as the something, technically and practically they are different. However, one common aspect between both the fan & blowers is that they are both used for ventilation and cooling purposes.

Here are a few key differences between the two:

•    A blower is known to be a mechanical device, while a fan is an electronic device
•    Blowers are relatively larger than fans
•    Fans push the air axially. On the other hand, blowers blow out air with centrifugal force.

The Motor of Fan & Blower

Centrifugal blower manufacturers have always used DC motors for the blowers the make. Similarly, fans also have a DC motor which indicates that the airflow can be increased and decreased efficiently. Fan motors just torque up the pole of the fan which thus causes the blades appended to it to pivot. Therefore, the air flow is bound for the most part in and around the zone where the fan is found. As opposed to this, blower motors utilize the ongoing vitality made by the impellers to increment or decline the volume of the wind stream.

Energy Efficiency

The design of blades and how they propel the air respectively are vital factors that determine the efficiency of air flow. That is centrifugally or axially. If it’s centrifugally, then the wind is supposed to change directions two times. Once, while entering the fan and second while exiting.

Fans tend to consume much less energy than blowers. However, blowers produce significantly more airflow then a fan can. Centrifugal blower manufacturers have always targeted their products to industrial consumers or other manufacturers. Fans, on the other hand, are used in homes and offices as they are used to provide relaxation.

Which Is Better?

By looking at both sides, the final decision between fans and blowers solely lies on the users. If you need a device for your office, home, or a small workshop, then the fan would be the better choice. However, factories would be better off if they opt for a blower.
